What is Type Approval?

  • ICASA type approval is the certification of an electronic communication device by ICASA to comply with the prescribed performance requirements for the particular equipment.
  • Any electronic communication device imported into South Africa without it being type-approved risks being seized by SARS's customs and other law enforcement agencies for non-compliance.
